LIVING WITH THE ENEMY.

DONNA FERRATO. DURA, CRUDA, SALVAJE, ATREVIDA, REAL Y EN BLANCO Y NEGRO. ASÍ ES SU LUCHA.

A few months ago I had the opportunity to see Donna Ferrato’s HOLY exhibition in Madrid. MOVING (J-BADASS). “Living with the enemy” is one of her most powerful and most admired projects. Looking to photograph how couples make love work, she unexpectedly collided with the reality of macho violence. Thus he began to document it and give a voice to the victims, making the invisible visible.

“WHEN YOU KNOW THAT A PERSON HAS BEEN INJURED, WHAT DO YOU DO? THIS IS HOW MY LIFE COMPLICATED.”

This photograph seems amazing to us. It is very hard and sad but in turn teaches the invisible reality of many families. We leave you a small video in which Donna Ferrato tells us how her life changed unexpectedly when she was confronted by male violence and also gives voice to the stories that she has been able to relate with her camera.

We believe that photography is also a means of struggle; being a powerful tool for visibility and criticism. “Ferrato’s book “Living with the enemy” is a vital publication to educate the public about a national crisis, which is largely the American way of life – National Coalition Against Male Violence . ”

Here is a link to Donnas Kickstarter for the new book, HOLY. You may agree it is a badass partner book to Living with the Enemy.
